After a hiatus of several years, the members of Sawmill Road decided that there is still more music to be made; there are more good sounds and good times to be had. The loyal fanbase that had been built on the strength of exciting concert performances and two powerful recordings, “Sawmill Road — One” and “Sawmill Road 2 — Fire on the Kettle”, had never ceased hoping for more. So, in response, this gathering of well-seasoned and top-notch pros is back and better than ever. The sparkling musicianship and polished vocal harmonies remain right at the top, where they always were. The wait is over, and the journey continues!

A native son of the Lone Star State of Texas, Steve’s lengthy professional career has covered the gamut and earned him a world-wide reputation as a singer, songwriter and musician. He has earned a BMI songwriters’ award, three IBMA awards, and is a former “New Folk” winner at the world-renowned Kerrville Folk Festival. He has performed, recorded and toured with Wild Oats, Cheyenne, Byron Berline’s band Sundance, Mason Williams, Freddy Fender, The Limeliters, Bluegrass Etc., and the bluegrass super-group California. His tasteful bass playing provides the foundation every band requires, and his unmistakable baritone lead vocals stand out in a crowd.

Dick is no stranger to the banjo world. His reputation is long-standing and much deserved. Considered a master of taste, tone and power on this bluegrass-defning instrument, he has traveled the world performing, teaching and sharing his love of the five-string. Dick has performed and recorded with Lost Highway, Long Lonesome Road, Lynn Morris, Copper River, and Traditional Bluegrass. He also performs with the Old Blue Band throughout the Southwest. Originally from New Mexico, he is a two-time winner of the Four Corners State Banjo Championship. He’s also tall enough to reach things on the top shelf.
fiddle / vocals
A stalwart of the West Coast bluegrass scene, Bruce has built a reputation over many years that speaks of tone, taste and energy. When his bow hits the strings, you know it’s Bruce. His seasoned baritone vocal anchors the tight harmonies which Sawmill Road is known for. Bruce’s “performed with” resume includes Byron Berline and the L.A. Fiddle Band, Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver, The Laurel Canyon Ramblers, plus many others. When Bruce has something to say, his fiddle always does the talking.
mandolin / vocals
A product of the state of Arizona, Mark is a multi-instrumentalist who handles the mandolin, lead and harmony vocal duties with clear style. A veteran of many years as a music pro, he always brings a fresh approach to the bluegrass genre that never abandons its roots and is always clean, tasteful and driving. Mark has won numerous mandolin contests and loves to teach. His former bands have won the Telluride Bluegrass Festival band contest and earned runner-up at the Rockygrass band competition. He also performs with The Sonoran Dogs at festivals around the southwestern U.S. and tours regularly in Australia and New Zealand.
guitar / vocals
A native of the Golden State of California, David is another multi-instrumentalist who can play every instrument on stage if he chooses. On guitar, he provides rock-solid rhythm plus lead solos that let you know he has mastered those six strings with distinctive style. He has performed with The Bladerunners, The Shankman Twins, The McKintree Boys, Chris Cerna and the Bluegrass Republic, and The Grateful Dudes. He has also played a little jazz with The Chris Cerna Quartet, just to prove he knows more than three chords. Oh, and he sings just great, thank you very much.
